Andris, thank you for this refreshingly positive statement. It is so tiresome that the world media insists not on just seeing the "glass" as half empty, but predicting a drought for the next few years ahead. The Swedish media in particular is preaching devaluation of the Lat, I recently wrote several articles (e.g. "Baltic Tiger: In the Eye of the Storm" and "Latvia: Milestones on the Road to Economic Recovery") explaining why this would be a terrible decision. Positive morale and a can-do mindset is at least a third of the battle, yet people tend to masochistically obsess over the negative effects of the recession. Yes, things will be tough for a couple more years, but the system has structural problems at the core and this crisis forces us to address and fix them to ensure survival in the short term and growth and prosperity in the future. If we could stop the panic we could start to turn the tide. Stay positive and smile more! :)
