SECOND YEAR IN A ROW BALTIC AGENCY OF THE YEAR - DDB LATVIA

On August 30, at the BalticBest 2019 festival that took in place in Tallinn, for the second consecutive year, the advertising agency DDB Latvia was voted best among 64 Baltic advertising and communication agency. It was awarded this honour on the basis of awards won at industry festivals. At this year’s BalticBest festival DDB Latvia won 15 awards. After judging the 209 entries submitted, the winners were chosen by an international jury. 

The most success was achieved by the LMT campaign “It’s All in Our Hands”. It won four awards including Gold in the Film Craft category and Silver in the Outdoor Advertising category for the Brīvības Centre’s Christmas window displays.

Latvijas Zaļais punkts’ communication received three awards: Gold in the Branded Content and Entertainment category for Sortathlon coach Viktorija’s stand-up act on the Midnight Show at Seven with Jānis Skutelis.  Meanwhile, as a campaign, the Nationwide Sortathlon was rewarded with two silver awards.

“Pupkultūra” (Boob Culture), a social campaign conceived in collaboration with the Pink Train Charitable Foundation was awarded Silver in the Integrated Campaigns and Public Service PR categories.

The Live Riga campaign “An Insider’s Guide to Riga” continued its victory march, winning two awards at this festival: Silver in the Marketing Effectiveness category and Bronze in the Online Video for the TVC “Police Guide in Riga” with Mairis Briedis in the leading role.

Together with the Republic of Latvia’s Ministry of Economics, the agency also won two Bronze awards for the campaign “Latvia – Your Business Playground”.

“For a Better Life” or the first ever song from label texts, a campaign jointly conceived by Rimi Latvia and DDB Latvia was awarded Bronze in the Branded Content and Entertainment category.

In turn, the “First Sofa Marathon” introduced by Riga Plaza and DDB Latvia won a Bronze award in the Promo and Activation category.

The Gold award-winning works at the festival will travel on to major European and global festivals including EPICA and Eurobest.

Commenting on the agency’s success, DDB Latvia Creative Director Liene Bērziņa said, “I am very honoured that Latvia has become the most powerful nation in the Baltics for communication and creativity for the second time. I believe that it’s important for leaders to be trailblazers, who continually test themselves in new territories. In all the projects we’ve received awards for this year, we’ve been bold, experimental and innovative. This would not be possible if we didn’t have such open-minded and audacious clients.”

BalticBest is a creative excellence festival that has taken place for the past six years and unites advertising industry experts and professionals from the Baltics and many other of Europe’s smallest countries, 22 of them in total. Its goal is to highlight and celebrate the industry’s most original ideas and outstanding works.

 DDB Latvia will add the awards and the title of Baltic Agency of the Year it won at the BalticBest festival to its achievements in the advertising industry dating back almost 24 years, making it the most experienced agency in Latvia.
