BALTIC AGENCY OF THE YEAR - DDB LATVIA
On August 31, at Balticbest 2018 festival that took place at the Tallinn Film Museum, advertising agency DDB Latvia was recognised as the best advertising and communication agency in the Baltics. This is the first time that this title has been awarded to an agency from Latvia.
The leaders were ranked by awarding points for wins at local and regional festivals (such as the local Adwards in Latvia, Adrenalinas in Lithuania, Kuldmuna in Estonia, and the New European and Mid-Asia event Golden Drum) and for medals and also shortlists at European and global festivals (such as Cannes Lions, EPICA, Clio, etc.).
At the fifth Balticbest, the largest one yet, other Latvian agencies to secure a place in the top 10 were Deep White, Not Perfect | Y&R Riga and New Black. Besides the announcement of the Baltic rankings, Tallinn also witnessed the presentation of awards chosen from a body of works submitted by agencies from seven countries. Four of these awards ended up in the hands of DDB Latvia. The jury was sufficiently impressed by the LiveRiga short film A Tennis Guide to Riga in film craft category, for LMT Brīvības Centre shop displays in print ad and poster category, as well as the RTSD campaign Stop Before You Shut Down and LiveRiga short film series Insider’s guide to Riga in the integrated campaign category.
Andris Rubīns, DDB Latvia CEO and partner was naturally delighted with the results, “We’re really pleased with this historic success, as this is the first time for a Latvian agency to be ranked as the leader in the Baltics. I’m especially proud that it was the DDB team that achieved this success. Since we’re working on a Baltic and European scale more and more, we are increasingly more recognized and influential across a broader region. DDB Brand Capital, the biggest lifestyle and brand study in the Baltics that we’ve been running for six years now, has helped us generate a bigger return on marketing investments – in combination with our creative mastery, of course. So it feels logical to reach this leading position in the Baltics, and a just reward for the dedicated work of our talented and professional team at DDB Latvia.”
As Balticbest awards ceremony was taking place, at the same time awards were also handed out at Adwards creative excellence festival in Riga, where DDB Latvia won a commendable total of six awards. During the past year, the agency has won close to 40 awards in domestic and international competitions. The most award-winning piece of work from DDB is the LiveRiga tourism campaign Insider’s guide to Riga, that just recently added a ninth episode starring Elena Ostapenko.
