Latvia is Becoming a Powerful IT Society
Business trends in Latvia clearly indicate that the field of communications and technology is the key to our future achievements. Therefore, it’s only logical that Latvia is currently focusing on building a competent and competitive IT society. Just recently, a new all-encompassing IT education platform “Baltic IT Society” (BITS) was launched, through the joint efforts of Accenture and some of the country’s other leading IT and financial companies, the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as three higher education institutions. The goal is to get to the point very soon where we can boast 3,000 modern IT education graduates a year!
To add further support to the attainment of this goal, the first Baltic IT Excellence Programme “Bachelor of IT Leadership” (BITL) has been launched in collaboration with the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Riga Business School and the State University of New York at Buffalo. BITL has been established with the goal of becoming the most competitive education programme in Europe, in which parallel to IT skills, students will master communication, project management, entrepreneurship, legal science, financial, artificial intelligence and other skills; moreover in English.
Since information technologies play an important role in the field of advertising, it is with the greatest pleasure and pride that we at DDB are participating in this initiative, creating the most appropriate message for the target audience as well as a new identity for the programme, which will encourage potential IT professionals to obtain a universal and competitive world-class education. Application for the new teaching year has begun, and we’re delighted that the programme has already generated a great deal of interest among potential students!
