A year has passed since O!Karte presented itself to the world in a new image with a new philosophy and new products. And throughout this year O!Karte has not sat still with its hands in its lap. Instead, it has worked non-stop and made sure that it was noticed by every member of the Latvian population. O!Karte can not only take pride in its achievements, but also in its excellent business results, which have seen its number of users increase by 14.8% in just one year.
The idea for O!Karte’s new brand is based on self-expression. Not without reason O!Karte is intended for those who have something to say. More than 5,000 artworks and songs have been submitted to the platform established by O!Karte: www.oskatuve.lv. O!Karte has give five young groups (Even Better, Monologs Divatā, Synonyms for Beauty, Svema and Camillas together with Gustavo) and two singers (Anna Ķirse and Milena) a chance to make it big and has supported more than 50 artists. In addition, 12 talented young singers have graduated from the O!Karte Academy.
At the start of the year, O!Karte created a new image – a little green person – a socially responsible person who stands up for fair telecommunications links and customer-friendly rates. The battle between the green and yellow turned out to be quite heated, but afterwards O!Karte attained the most rapid increase in the number of its customers in its history.
Together with LMT, this year O!Karte caused a revolution in the telecommunications product offering by being the first to offer unlimited mobile phone Internet for a fixed fee, thus gradually making Internet use on mobile phones a feature of daily life. Since January 2010, the number of O!Karte Internet phone users has increased by 39%.
And O!Karte will continue to offer new, modern technological products which make daily life more convenient and captivating for users.
Back in the spring, O!Karte found a kindred spirit in Gustavo – a restless creatives spirit who has released his new album “The Third Breath” and took part in O!Karte’s Song Festival campaign performing together with a youth choir. Yes; this year the X School Youth Song and Dance Festival was staged under O!Karte’s sign – 30,000 festival participants could communicate with each other and their parents at specially advantageous rates and keep their belongings safe in bright green O!Karte bags. During the festival, more than 100 choir singers gathered at Radio 101’s open studio where they sang the folk song “Mazs bij’ tēva novadiņš” live on air.
O!Karte provides opportunities not only for creative personalities, but also for active leisure enthusiasts who have no shortage of imagination! O!Karte inspired ship modellers, Ghetto Basket participants, footballers and creative runners taking part in the O!Karte Night Run. As we know, other senses are ‘activated’ at night, and more than 100,000 friends virtually transformed themselves into owls, bobcats, foxes, mice and bats. Of those almost 4,000 took part in the O!Karte Night Run organised by NECom and ran the 5 km over the Vanšu Bridge through the narrow streets of Riga’s Old Town to the riverbank, where they danced to the music laid on by Radio 101 DJs and enjoyed the City of Riga’s Festival firework display.
Much has been achieved, but even more ideas are already in the pipeline and will be brought to life very soon! We hope that the coming year is just as successful for O!Karte!
