What would you do if you found some money in some sports shoes that you’re about to try on? Or if the blouse you plan to buy is accompanied by an unimaginably heavy pack of powder? And if, when buying tickets to the cinema, you were given a pillow and told that the length of the film is going to be four hours?
This year, the partnership between DDB and Alfa Shopping Centre has already created five candid camera episodes which can only be seen on the Internet without the involvement of any other media. It’s not without reason that t/p Alfa’s slogan is Always more! More courage, more crazy ideas and the ability to laugh at yourself which isn’t the Latvian nation’s strongest trait. We allowed ourselves to play some jokes on visitors to t/p Alfa, and, as we can see from the video, they’re able to laugh at themselves, thus improving not only their own mood, but also that of countless others who’ve watched this video on the Internet!
“It’s quite a challenge to make a decision about this kind of activity which isn’t directly related to increasing sales volumes and generating predictable return on investment. However, realizing the kind of emotions we want to create for our clients, i.e. positive feelings about Alfa and the ability to laugh at yourself, generated the right effect and made this challenge worth it,” said t/p Alfa Managing Director Zigmunds Vīķis commenting on the campaign.
In total, the candid camera episodes have been viewed more than 130,000 times on the Internet and in 80% of cases the comments from viewers were positive which changes one’s impression about the Latvian Internet environment. Candid camera is due to continue in the autumn. So be careful! You’re about to be filmed by a hidden camera!
