In its annual national competition the Best Packaging in Latvia, the Latvian Packaging Association has awarded this year’s Grand Prix to Dobeles Dzirnavnieks. This year, 19 Latvian companies competed for the prestigious Grand Prix submitting 43 works. The jury of experts decided to also nominate the winner to participate in the competition organised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO): WORLDSTAR 2012. Visitors to the internet website submitted the most votes to Dobeles Dzirnavnieks’ packaging.

The designer who created the Dobeles Dzirnavnieks packaging design is Jānis Birznieks who also received an article of recognition from the Latvian Designer’s Association for his work. Jānis is honoured by this recognition, “I’m very grateful to Dobeles Dzirnavnieks for its trust and for having the courage to change. Working on the new packaging design, I focused on a clean, simple and easily perceptible design, and I’m delighted that this was appreciated not only by the jury, but also by fans of Dobeles Dzirnavnieks’ products.”

A diploma awarded by the HOMO ECOS society for environmentally friendly, highly attractive and subtle consumer educational packaging for rye flour and packaging for bread preparation mixtures also ended up in the industrious hands of Dobeles Dzirnavnieks.

The DDB Design team has created many of Latvia’s best known brand graphic identities and product packaging for companies including Statoil, Vivacolor, Cēsu Alus, Zelta alus, Dobeles Dzirnavnieks and others.
