Dāvis is not an airline pilot, minister of justice or metalworking specialist. This becomes clear as soon as you see him. Nor is Dāvis among those who’ve got nothing to add or suggest. This becomes clear as soon as you strike up a conversation with him. His artistic temperament shines through in just about every way possible – his choice of clothes, the way he does his hair, in the words he choose and in the way his mind works. As some advertising heavyweights have acknowledged, Dāvis is one of the few people in Latvian advertising who genuinely looks like an art director. This is undeniably true.
After originally trying his hand as a layout designer, followed by a stint as a graphic designer both in Latvia and overseas; today, Dāvis Vilcāns signs his e-mails as DDB Art Director. Dāvis himself says that, in his opinion, his career has developed ‘by the book’, although it began quite unexpectedly. Right through to the present day, Dāvis has managed to retain this sense of the "unexpected", injecting it into everything he does.
Dāvis loves making jokes, listening to groups that nobody's ever heard of, and, of course, adopting a creative approach to every challenge life throws his way. And what’s more, Dāvis finds all of this easy. This is and is not Dāvis Vilcāns.
