The Omnicom Sports Games were recently held at one of Riga’s warmest active leisure venues – the Brazīlija Beach Centre. The duties of Master of Ceremonies and commentator for the games were simultaneously undertaken by none other than Māris Rīmens. And one has to admit that his presence made the event much more significant. During the games, a total of 12 teams put their skills and endurance to the test in beach football and volleyball. And while though the competition on both pitches was intense, at the end it looked as if the football had taken just that little bit more out of some really tired and sweaty guys..
In the volleyball competition, by winning all of its games in its qualifying group followed by another win in the final, DDB’s team “Hot and Cold” finished first in impressive style. And after the football final finished 1:1, the outcome of the competition remained in doubt until the final kick of the penalty shootout when another of DDB’s teams “We’re for Tennis” finally succumbed to its rival Omnicom team. Well done to our colleagues!
Overall, on the back of a 1st place finish in volleyball and 2nd place in football, DDB’s was awarded the winner’s cup for a deserved victory! We’re truly grateful to our colleagues for their support which spurred us on at the most critical moments and helped us to beat our opponents, as well as to the event organisers for giving us the chance to enjoy the laurels of victory!
And in order for this story to acquire a measure of reality, we’re offering you the chance to take a look at a photo report capturing some of the key moments from the games.
