This year, the Accenture S3 strategic competition for companies took place in Liepāja, the city that is home to the wind. In the two previous years, the DDB team took it easy and this idea became folklore. In a change of emphasis, this year we decided to take the Accenture S3 competition seriously. Very seriously. Maybe because we’d lined up a powerful team, but also perhaps because in business as in life although there are times when you can afford to relax, there are also times when you have to get serious. So we created a team visit card and anthem. As you should.
As early as the first task, we surprised other teams and the residents of Liepāja with our creative and non-traditional approach – we constructed our raft from barrels and spent the tiny sum of Ls 1.20 on ropes. Needless to say, the total team raft building bill came to approximately 800 lats. And, in spite of the fact that the raft let us down and four bikes almost sank in Liepāja’s trading canal, DDB’s army finished the stage with a high practicability coefficient.
We came up with a second unexpected surprise for ourselves by finishing first in the final stage. The joy of being the first to cross the finish line and the realisation that it was all over and that all that remained for was to look forward to the closing party was indescribable!
This year’s event stood out because of its emphasis on the need to function as a team. And this part was easy for us. We spent the majority of the competition competing shoulder to shoulder alongside the Citadele team, and we didn’t let each other down!
Conclusions? The right strategy, a well-assembled team and trustworthy team-mates are the ticket to a top 10 finish that we’re proud of. For a broader insight check out these photos from the event. The top three teams in the Accenture S3 strategic competition for companies were SEB banka, Lattelecom and Eko investors. This year Accenture S3 took place for the fourth year in a row, and, as usual, the strategic competition was organised by NECom in partnership with the active leisure and event organisation unit Eži and Lietišķā diena.
