The bigger the number of participants; the bigger the responsibility. This year, 3,300 more runners competed in the Nordea Riga Marathon than last year. And we scored a bullseye with "One Run. One Feeling!" the slogan created by DDB, because a massive field of 8,500 runners really did come together and pooled their collective energy to create the biggest running event in Latvia’s history to date. A huge contribution to the organization of the event was made by Nords Event Communications which really did do everything necessary to ensure that the event was a success.

For some competitors, this was their first serious run. For others, it was their umpteenth marathon, but one thing is absolutely clear; for many of those who took part in the Nordea Riga Marathon, the occasion will remain in the memory as the most impressive event of 2009. Something that has not passed unnoticed, because the Nordea Riga Marathon has been nominated for "Latvia’s Annual Sports Award" in the category, "Latvia’s Sports Event of the Year" in 2009! It really has become more than just a simple running event. This is one run. This is one feeling. May the best competitor win!
