Every patriotically inclined family will celebrate Latvia’s national holiday on 18 November. Some will participate in various festive events in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia, and almost all of us will watch the festive fireworks display with joy in our hearts. Just like every year. Only this year, many Latvian families will have to do without their festive feast, because they are battling to make sure they can feed their family on a daily basis.
Looking forward to Latvia’s birthday, the food bank “Paēdušai Latviai” will provide help to another 1,409 families affected by the economic crisis throughout Latvia. To date, 1,116 food packs have already been issued, but the number of families affected by the crisis continues to grow. At the moment 3499 families are still waiting for food packs.
Our goal is feed 10,000 Latvian families in six months by distributing 60,000 food parcels. Therefore, we’ll be happy to receive each and every gesture of support. Follow the latest news and find out how many families have already enjoyed a meal by visiting the campaign organizer’s homepage: www.paedusailatvijai.lv, Facebook and Twitter.
Happy Birthday, Latvia!
